Shiatsu Massage

Literally translated as “finger pressure”, Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage that uses hand pressure and manipulative techniques to adjust the body’s physical structure and influence its natural inner energies. No long strokes are involved, but a series of stretches, and specific pressure points that are pressed with the fingers or hand, easing in until resistance is felt, then pushing quickly past that point and releasing. This stimulates the body’s healing response, sending repair organisms flowing to the area- where they begin to work, clearing and moving cellular debris to reduce inflammation, and  initiating the production of endorphins, the body’s own home grown pain killer. This type of massage uses our innate response to touch, encouraging your body’s own healing process to work, and like all massage, can head off small problems before they become large problems.

Your Shiatsu session takes place in a warm room with subdued lighting and soft music playing. You will be draped comfortably and your arms and legs moved smoothly into different positions as the work progresses. I am careful to stay within your comfort zone, and, as with all the work here at BodyMind Dynamics, the massage is customized to your specific needs.

I also perform a seated Shiatsu massage, which is very energizing, and can be accomplished quickly - a favorite among office staff for on site massage, and at parties. With 42 separate moves in less than 20 minutes, it’s fun to watch, too!

A Shiatsu session takes an hour, And can be extended to an hour and a half, Seated Shiatsu takes about 20 minutes. ~I would like a minimum of three clients for on-site seated massage~
