It is my intent to provide a safe and healing environment. Your input is vital to this effort, and any feedback about your experience is welcome.
Each client receives fresh linens, and equipment is sanitized between each session. I will assist you on and off the table at your request, otherwise, I will leave the room while you disrobe. Undress only to your level of comfort. While I use professionally accepted draping techniques to insure warmth and modesty, some treatments may require partial nudity. When this is the case, I will always ask permission, and you may always refuse.
Some massage techniques may be uncomfortable, but should never hurt excessively. If you experience pain during your massage, please tell me immediately, and I will adjust or redirect my work. I will be glad to explain what I am doing, and why, at your request.
During your massage I may use various modalities, some from other cultures. There is no doctrine or dogma attached to any of these practices, and their use will not affect any religious beliefs.
It is not unusual for some individuals to experience an emotional release during bodywork or massage. Please be assured that your privacy is important to me, and I hold all that occurs during a session in strict confidence. Any session notes or records that I keep will also be held in confidence, and kept in a locked cabinet. However, your records are available to you if you wish to see them.
Your massage may cause a release of toxins from body tissues, so please remember to drink plenty of water to help flush them from your system.
Sexually suggestive remarks or advances will not be tolerated, and will result in termination of the massage.
I urge all my clients to take responsibility for their health, and to become as informed as possible in order to make good health care choices.
Mike's interest and experience in bodywork go back many years. Mike got his first experience with massage when, as a competitive swimmer, he exchanged massage with his teammates. Later, in his training as a paramedic, he excelled in his studies of anatomy and physiology. Mike's thorough knowledge of the human body informs his work today.
In the early 1990's Mike developed an interest in pain management as a result of his wife's fall from a horse. He took an informal class from a local massage therapist to help her recover from her back injury. Over the next several years, Mike gave massage to family, friends, and other therapists, who urged him to devote his working life to massage therapy.
In 2004, Mike completed the 500-hour course of instruction at Ahern's Massage Therapy School in Mariposa, California. He soon obtained National Certification and licensure in North Carolina and in Tennessee. Mike then opened BodyMind Dynamics, dedicated to healing through multi-modality bodywork. Mike offers a variety of services to help people with chronic pain and stress and to promote overall well being.National Certification # 427861 • Tennessee License # 4853 • North Carolina License # 5360
